To coincide with this year's International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3rd the BOND Disability and Development Group hosted an awareness raising event at Central Hall in Westminster.
The event was targeted at Chief Executives and senior management staff of organisations involved in international development. The aim was to increase awareness within the wider development field of the necessity to include disabled people in all development work, offer practical ways to think about meaningful inclusion and provide a network of organisations committed to progress in this sector.

Lorraine Wapling (BOND DDG Chair) and Dr Raymond Lang (Research Fellow, Leonard Cheshire International) led a "taster" disability awareness workshop. During which, participants were invited to tackle relevant issues such as the: social model of disability; UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; Millennium Development Goals; mainstreaming disability and inclusive development.
