Austria : Light for the World Press Breakfast to launch the pilot project - 2006-09-11

Light for the World held a Press Breakfast for the Austrian media in Vienna on 2 March in order to the pilot project and to raise awareness of the situation of disabled persons in developing countries.

Rupert Roniger, Director of Light for the World, was joined on the platform by Petra Bayr, Member of Parliament and Chairwoman of the Development policy Sub-Committee who gave the support of the Austrian Parliamentary Committee and called for action by the Austrian Government to advance inclusive development policies and practice.

Isabelle Wahedova and Johannes Trimmel of Light for the World gave journalists more detailed information about the overall aims and objectives of this ground breaking pilot project which would, for the first time, undertake a detailed analysis and data gathering of the situation of disability in development policies of the 25 EU Member States.

'The aim of the initiative is to make the problems visible and then develop tools for concrete implementation on the basis of already proven models in the European Development Policy', explained Isabelle Wahedova, Project Coordinator in Brussels.
